In any booming industry, the demand for training is not far behind. The scalp micropigmentation (SMP) industry is no different. With qualified and licensed SMP technicians in high demand and short supply, many technicians and SMP clinics have begun to offer training. However, not all scalp micropigmentation training is created equal.

In today’s fast-paced and busy world many potential students are seeking out online SMP training and are finding that they are faced with a number of different options. So which is the right one?

First and foremost, beware of the often inexpensive two or three-day online SMP courses. While they look tempting, you will almost certainly be disappointed and left with little to no understanding of the procedure or how to start or run your SMP business. I hate to break it to you, but it doesn’t matter how smart or talented you are, you are not going to become a qualified SMP artist while watching some videos and essentially training yourself at your kitchen table over a weekend.

Other online scalp micropigmentation training offers online material with included or optional communication with a licensed artist. While this is obviously a better option, and there are some genuinely legitimate artists offering quality training this way, the bulk of them will again leave you unqualified.

Enter Alpha Micropigmentation’s remote SMP training. I use the “remote” instead of online, for a very specific reason and that is because you are being trained live and in-person by me remotely via Zoom, Facetime, or a similar platform.  All training is hands-on and one on one so every student receives the personal attention they need and the best training possible. You will learn everything you need to know from the first time a client contacts you until your very last follow-up. I teach you multiple scalp micropigmentation and scar camouflage techniques, but more importantly, I teach you the SMP business. Knowing how to perform a professional SMP procedure is obviously important, but what many instructors do not teach are things like, how to find and book clients, how to quote clients, what legal paperwork or forms you should be using, skin conditions, hair conditions, etc. This information is every bit as valuable as knowing the procedure.

I created this training because I found that most online SMP training was underserving students and ultimately sending unqualified artists out into the field. This is a lose/lose situation for both the new artists and their clients.
